Editorial policy
Accuracy and sources
We aim to verify factual claims before publication and attribute information to its source. Reports should distinguish confirmed facts from allegations, estimates and commentary. Uncertainty should be stated, and quotations must preserve the speaker’s meaning.
Review and corrections
Every story requires editorial approval. Substantive edits return to review before being published. Readers can report an error with a story link and supporting information. When a material error is confirmed, our policy is to correct it and explain the change in the story.
Opinion and commercial content
Opinion expresses the author’s perspective and is labelled by section. Paid placements and sponsored content must be identified. Advertising does not buy favourable editorial coverage.
Images and AI assistance
Images must have permission for use and appropriate credits. Illustrations must not be presented as photographs of an event. AI-generated imagery must be labelled. Any AI-assisted writing remains subject to human fact-checking and editorial review; fabricated sources, interviews and quotations are not acceptable.
Fairness and privacy
Coverage should consider the public interest, seek a response to significant allegations where appropriate, and avoid unnecessary disclosure of private information. Writers should disclose conflicts of interest to the editor.
